Jennifer Aniston Hairstyles Biography

Jennifer Joanna Aniston was born on 11 February 1969 in LA. Her Greek-born father, John (real name Yannis Anastassakis), had been brought to the US when he was 10 and was an actor, starring in TV series such as 'Combat!' and 'I Spy', and her mother, Nancy, was also an actress.

When John's stint in NBC's longest running soap 'Days of our Lives' ended in 1970, so did his steady income and so, when Aniston was five, he uprooted the family back to his home city, Athens, in order to retrain for a medical profession. The Anistons remained in Greece for a year until a call from his agent saw John returning to New York with the family to take a three-year part in 'Love of Life'.

But this re-ignited success coincided with Aniston's parents divorcing in 1978, when she was nine. In a bid to reunite them, she started to play up at school – the famous Rudolf Steiner school known for its strict policies, in a hope that her parents would be forced together when called to the principal's office! Despite lacking in drive when it came to her education, Aniston revelled in her time spent at the drama club and after catching an episode of 'Fame' on TV, she knew where her career destiny lay, going on to enroll at the 'real life' Fame, the New York High School of Performing Arts.

Graduating in 1987, Aniston decided against going to college and began working as a waitress in Hollywood while auditioning for roles. Her first television part came in 1990 in the comedy series 'Molloy' and next she took a longer-stint in the widely panned adaptation of the hit film, 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'. Luck wasn't on her side after she won several roles in what transpired to be a succession of cancelled programmes and for a while she considered giving up acting altogether.

But fate would save her when she successfully auditioned for a new comedy series called 'Friends Like These'. Originally asked to play the character Monica Geller, she convinced the producers that she'd be better suited instead for the part of Rachel Green. The audition was a success and in 1994 the first episode of the shortened-title, 'Friends' aired. The rest is history as they say and Aniston would play the part of Rachel for the next ten years, propelling her name to A-list stardom and losing a stone and a half in weight in the process.

Like her fellow cast members, Aniston wanted to use her free time to progress her film career but initially it seemed she never quite picked the right project to propel her beyond her recognition as Rachel. 'She's The One' (1996) was followed by 'Picture Perfect' (1997) but although they were both entertaining in a 'DVD night-in' kind of way, both came and went without critics even batting an eyelid.
But meanwhile her love life looked to be hotting up. After spending two years living with the actor Tate Donovan, they split it 1998 and her agent thought it would be a good move to set her up on a blind date – who transpired to be Brad Pitt. Just two years later, the couple married in a $1 million ceremony in Malibu where Aniston reportedly vowed to make Pitt's favourite banana split and Pitt promised to find a balance on the thermostat.

But the end of their marriage would be sealed when Pitt began shooting the film 'Mr and Mrs Smith' in 2005 with renowned bad girl, Angelina Jolie. Despite being papped holidaying in the Caribbean with 'Friends' pal Courtney Cox and her husband David Arquette in January 2005, just a few days later Aniston announced her separation from Pitt.

In October, their divorce was finalised and media speculation was rife as to the reason why Hollywood's hottest couple had decided to go their separate ways. Some headlines claimed that Aniston's refusal to have children had created a divide between them but she fiercely denied this. And by 2006, Jolie had come clean that she and Pitt had fallen in love on the set of 'Mr & Mrs Smith' and despite denying pursuing him as he was "married to his best friend", the pair went public on their relationship not long after his divorce and have remained together ever since, their brood extending to six children (three adopted) at last count.

Despite being so publicly torn from her relationship, Aniston refused to hide away and wallow in self-pity. Her career had seen a hiatus since her starring turn in 2002's low-budget flick 'The Good Girl', which was a surprise hit - taking $14 million at the box office and showing off her talents as a 'serious' actress. She'd also won her first Emmy (after two previous nominations on the trot) in 2002 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and earned critical acclaim in 'Bruce Almighty' alongside Jim Carey (2003). Not only that, but after starting out on a healthy $35,000 per episode for the first series of 'Friends', her pay cheque for the final season in 2004 rocketed to a grand $1 million.

Pitt may have got the girl, take two, but Aniston has earned even more fans through her steadfast resolve not to play the bitter ex-wife. Her career has gone from strength to strength – a turn in 2006's 'The Break Up' led to huge box office success and even a brief romance with co-star Vince Vaughn, who Aniston described as bringing her "back to life" after her divorce.

She followed this up with an equally successful appearance in 'Marley & Me' in 2008, which was a commercial hit, grossing over $242 million from a budget of just $10 million. Furthermore, the movie co-starring Owen Wilson also set the largest Christmas Day box office ever after achieving $14.75 million in ticket sales.

Buoyed by the success of the film, Aniston went on to star, alongside an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore and Scarlett Johansson, in 2009 romantic comedy 'He's Just Not That Into You', another commercial hit. The same year also saw her appear in 'Love Happens' with Aaron Eckhart, and 'Management', her first effort as Executive Producer.

In 2010, Aniston teamed up with Scottish actor Gerald Butler for 'The Bounty Hunter', which despite receiving overwhelmingly negative reviews, did well at the box office. 'The Switch', which she produced, was her next effort and the movie received mixed reviews from critics. She has been busy in recent times and appeared in 'Just Go with It', 'Wanderlust' and 'Horrible Bosses' in 2011.

Since then, she has acted in an episode of 'Burning Love' in 2012. Next year, she will feature in 'We're the Millers' as well as 'Miss You Already'. Aniston is also expected to appear in a as yet unnamed film by Elmore Leonard.

In an interview with Justin Theroux, Jennifer's co-star in 'Wanderlust', the actor raved about appearing alongside the 42-year-old.

He described the experience of working with the award-winning actress as "amazing" and described her as "fantastic, the classiest lady I know". Theroux went on to explain that Jennifer would make him blueberry smoothies packed with antioxidants when he caught a cold on set, and would give him Chinese herbal medicines if he was "feeling low".

After appearing in 'Wanderlust' together Aniston and Theroux started dating. They had been close friends for years but only took their relationship to the next level after this film. They have been virtually inseparable ever since and are now set to tie the knot. It was reported on 13 August 2012 that Theroux proposed to the actress on Friday 10 August while they were out celebrating his birthday.

A spokesperson for Theroux told People: "Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage." Hopefully this will put paid to the rumours that the actress has not been able to get over Pitt.
Jennifer is almost as well known for her looks, not to mention that Rachel haircut, as she is for her work as an actress, and a recent interview with her fitness trainer in Glamour magazine revealed some of the star's body secrets.

Mandy Ingber, Aniston's trainer, explained that she does "flow yoga" with the actress, which "involves moving frequently and holding various poses". She explained that this is then interspersed with toning exercises, such as leg lifts, squats and lunges.

Aniston said of herself that she has been accused of being both too thin and too heavy at various points in her career, so her philosophy is to "stop trying to please everyone".

One of the richest women in the entertainment industry, according to Forbes, Aniston has not only won a Golden Globe, but also picked up 22 other gongs and 44 award nominations over the course of her career. Her resilience and determination have proven that she will always remain one step ahead – whatever the world throws at her and she is arguably one of the most respected and highest earning actresses in Hollywood. Add to that her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which she was awarded on 22 February 2012, Aniston is one of the top actresses in the industry.

Braids Hairstyles Biography

braid (also called plait) is a complex structure or pattern formed by intertwining three or more strands of flexible material such as textile fibres, wire, or hair. Compared to the process of weaving a wide sheet of cloth from two separate, perpendicular groups of strands (warp and weft), a braid is usually long and narrow, with each component strand functionally equivalent in zigzagging forward through the overlapping mass of the others.
The simplest possible braid is a flat, solid, three-strand structure in some countries/cases called a plait. More complex braids can be constructed from an arbitrary (but usually odd) number of strands to create a wider range of structures: wider ribbon-like bands, hollow or solid cylindrical cords, or broad mats which resemble a rudimentary perpendicular weave.
Braids are commonly used to make rope, decorative objects, and hairstyles[1] (also see pigtailsFrench braid). Complex braids have been used to create hanging fibre artworks. Braiding is also used to prepare horses' manes and tails for showing, poloand polocrosse.[2]

Prehistory and history

The oldest known reproduction of hair braiding may lie back about 30,000 years: theVenus of Willendorf, now known in academia as the Woman of Willendorf, of a female figurine estimated to have been made between about 28,000 and 25,000BCE.[3] It is in dispute whether she wears braided hair or some sort of a woven basket. The Venus of Brassempouy is estimated to be about 25,000 years old and shows, ostensibly, a braided hairstyle.
Another sample from different origin was traced back to a burial site called Saqqaralocated on the Nile river during the first dynasty of Pharaoh Menes.
In some regions, a braid was a means of communication. At a glance one individual could distinguish a wealth of information about another, whether they were married, mourning, or of age for courtship, simply by observing their hairstyle. Certain hairstyles were distinctive to particular tribes or nations. Other styles spoke to an individual’s status in society.
Braiding is traditionally a social art. Because of the time it takes to braid hair, people took time to socialize while braiding and having their hair done. It begins with the elders making simple knots and braids for younger children. Older children watch and learn from them, start practicing on younger children and eventually learn the traditional designs. In the US, you see mothers and grandmothers braiding and putting colorful beads in little children’s hair. This carries on a tradition of bonding between elders and the new generation.

Ropes and cables

Braiding creates a composite rope that is thicker and stronger than the non-interlaced strands of yarn. Braided ropes are preferred by arboristsrock climbersand in sport sailing because they do not twist under load, as does an ordinary twisted-strand rope. These ropes consist of one or more concentric tubular braided jackets surrounding either several small twisted fibre cords, or a single untwisted yarn of straight fibres, and are known as Kernmantle ropes.
In electrical and electronic cablesbraid is a tubular sheath made of braided strands of metal placed around a central cable for shielding against electromagnetic interference. The braid is grounded while the central conductor(s) carry the signal. The braid may be used in addition to a foil jacket to increase shielding and durability.
Another use is for litz wire which uses braids of thin insulated wires to carry high frequency signals with much lower losses from skin effect or to minimise proximity effect in transformers.
Flat braids made of many copper wires are also sometimes used for flexible electrical connections between large components. The numerous smaller wires comprising the braid are much more resistant to breaking under repeated motion and vibration than is a cable of larger wires. A common example of this may be found connecting a car battery's negative terminal to the metal chassis.
Similar braiding is used on pressurized rubber hoses, such as in plumbing andhydraulic brake systems in automobiles. Braiding is also used for fibres for composite reinforcements.
A property of the basic braid is that removing one strand unlinks the other two, as they are not twisted around each other. Mathematically, a braid with that property is called a Brunnian braid.

Australian plaiting

Plaiting (or braiding) with kangaroo leather has been a widely practiced tradition in ruralAustralia since pioneering times. It is used in the production of fine leather belts, hatbands, bridles, dog leads, bullwhips andstockwhips etc. Other leathers are used for the plaiting of heavier products suitable for everyday use.[4]

Other braids

Gold braids and silver braids are components or trims of many kinds of formal dress, including military uniform (in epaulettesaiguillettes, on headgear).

Metaphors

Braids are often used figuratively to represent interweaving or combination, such as in "He braided many different ideas into a new whole."
Braiding happens when a river is carrying vast amounts of eroded sediment. Sediment is deposited as islands in the channel causing the river to split up into many winding channels.
In some river and stream systems, small streams join together and redivide in many places. Such stream systems are said to be braided. These are often found inalluvial fans at the outlet of canyons. This is a result of heavy sediment deposition at high flows followed by re-erosion at low flows. See also river delta.

School hasn't even started in New York, while it has for other parts of the country, but I just cannot wait. I think it's time we turned our attention to the most highly anticipated formal occasion for most high school girls: Homecoming.
I grew up in Texas, where homecoming was A Very Big Deal because football was A Very Big Deal (seen "Friday Night Lights?"). Homecoming wasn't quite the big deal prom was, but it meant getting dressed up and going to a dance and hopefully having a very cute boy take you to said dance. Someone in the senior class would be crowned homecoming queen right there on the football field (I think there was a homecoming king, too, but we girls were always fixated on being queen). Homecoming was such a big deal in Texas, even colleges had them! I was on the homecoming court my freshman, sophomore and junior years.
Homecoming is a very important occasion for high school students. Homecomings are considered a semi-formal event. This means it’s time to get your hair done, especially for the ladies. There are many times when a special hairstyle is necessary and homecoming is one of those times. However you should choose the homecoming hairstyles according hair’s length and hair’s texture. Below are several ideas of homecoming hairstyles for ladies. Take a look!

Pretty Homecoming Hairstyles

In this article we will give 3homecoming hairstyles that you can consider to try. First hairstyle is hair curly updo. Section hair into two parts, top and bottom. Secure the top section with a large clip and use a curling iron to curl the bottom section of hair. Mist hair with a finishing spray to secure curls. Remove the clip from the top part of the hair and bring it back from the face and pin it down as needed. Curl the ends with your curling iron. Curls can be left loose or pinned down to create a glamorous look. If you have bangs, you can sweep them to the side and pin them for dramatic effect.
And the next homecoming hairstyles are French twists. Watch the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” while recreating Audrey Hepburn’s up-do before homecoming. The look seems more complicated than it is in reality. Add some texturizing cream or volumizer spray to wet hair and blow dry. Tease your hair at the roots by combing backwards with a fine comb. If you have bangs, brush the hair to the side and hold the bangs in place with a decorative hair pin. Use big hot rollers, all over, to add fullness. Gather your hair high on the crown and set with hairspray and pins. Pull hair in back in a loose ponytail and twist. While holding the base of the ponytail, fold the tail down onto itself until the ponytail is half the original size. Twist the bended ponytail inwards, until hidden, and pin in place.
Turn long hair into a beautiful cascade of ringlets and waves. Start by shampooing and using a rinse-out conditioner. Towel dry your hair. Apply de-tangler, if desired. Create a side part using the end of a rattail comb while hair is still damp. If you have bangs, separate hair and roll sections with a boar bristle roundbrush as you blow dry. Separate the rest of hair into 2-inch sections and blow dry with a long finger diffuser. When completely dry, separate hair again into 2-inch sections and curl with a medium-barrel curling iron. If your hair does not take a curl well, spritz hair with a setting spray before curling to hold curl. Pin curls to head with bobby pins and allow it to cool. After all of your hair is curled and pinned, remove pins and finger comb hair into loose ringlets and waves. Apply finishing products, such as hairspray or serum. Add accessories, like jeweled headbands and hair clips, if desired.
There are lots of different homecoming hairstyles to choose from and magazines as well as the Internet provide plenty of examples. Find a couple of styles you like, practice them, and then stick with the style that looks the best on you and with your dress for your homecoming hairstyle.

Mohawk Hairstyles Biography

The mohawk (also referred to as a mohican) is a hairstyle in which, in the most common variety, both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the center. The mohawk is also sometimes referred to as an iro in reference to the Iroquois, from whom the hairstyle is derived - though historically the hair was plucked out rather than shaved. Additionally, hairstyles bearing these names more closely resemble those worn by the Pawnee, rather than the Mohawk,Mohican/MahicanMohegan, or other phonetically similar tribes. The world record for the tallest mohican goes to Kazuhiro Watanabe, who has a 44.6-inch tall mohican.[1]

Name

While the mohawk hairstyle takes its name from the people of the Mohawk nation, anindigenous people of North America who originally inhabited the Mohawk Valley in upstate New York,[2] the association comes from Hollywood and more specifically from the popular 1939 movie, Drums Along the Mohawk starring Henry Fonda.
The Mohawk and the rest of the Iroquois confederacy (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Tuscarora and Oneida) in fact wore a square of hair on the back of the crown of the head. The Mohawk did not shave their heads when creating this square of hair, but rather pulled the hair out, small tufts at a time. The following is a first-hand account of James Smith, who was captured during the French and Indian war and adopted into the Mohawk tribe:
[A] number of Indians collected about me and one of them began to pull hair out of my head. He had some ashes on a piece of bark in which he frequently dipped his fingers in order to take a firmer hold, and so he went on as if he had been plucking a turkey, until he had all the hair clean out of my head, except a small spot about three or four inches square on my crown the remaining hair was cut and three braids formed which were decorated
Therefore a true hairstyle of the Mohawks was one of plucked-out hair, leaving a three-inch square of hair on the back crown of the head with three short braids of hair decorated. The three braids of a True Mohawk hairstyle are represented today on traditional headdresses of the Mohawk known as a "Gustoweh". Mohawk Gustowehs have three upright eagle feathers that represent the three braids of long ago.[3] When not decorated, the very short braids were allowed to hang loose as seen in Good Peter's image in the referenced article.

Historical use[edit]

The hairstyle has been in existence in many parts of the world for millennia. For instance, the Clonycavan Man, a 2000-year-old male bog body discovered near Dublin in 2003, was found to be wearing a mohawk styled with plant oil and pine resin.[4]Artwork discovered at the Pazyryk burials dating back to 600 BCE depicts Scythian warriors sporting similar mohawks. The body of a warrior occupying one of the kurgans had been scalped earlier in life and wore a hair prosthesis in the form of a mohawk.[5] Herodotus claimed that the Macai, a northern Libyan tribe, "shave their hair so as to leave tufts, letting the middle of their hair grow long, but round this on all sides shaving it close to the skin."[6]
Among the Pawnee people, who historically lived in present-day Nebraska and in northern Kansas, a "mohawk" hair style was common.
When going to war, 16th-century Ukrainian Cossacks would shave their heads, leaving a long central strip. This haircut was known as a khokhol and was often braided or tied in a topknot.[7]
During World War II, many American GIs, notably paratroopers from the 101st Airborne Divisionwore mohawks to intimidate their enemies. It was also occasionally worn by American troops during the Vietnam War.[8][9] In the early 1950s some jazz musicians,[10][11] and even a few teenage girls, wore them.[12]
The first use of the Mohawk style in movies was in "Female trouble" (1974) by John Waters.

Style and maintenance

Depending on how it is worn, the mohawk can be a high-maintenance style. Regular, careful shaving or trimming is required to maintain a clean line between the shaven and unshaven (or short and long) portions of the hair; this can be especially complicated in bi and tri hawks.
If the hair is to be worn up, brushing, backcombing, blow-drying, and twisting are required, as well as the application of sprays and in some cases other holding agents like white or clearglueegg whitescornstarch, or gelatin. The amount of time required for styling may increase considerably with longer hair or complicated styles such as liberty spikes (sometimes known as a libertyhawk).
Some wearers enhance the look of their mohawks with hair dyes. This too can require a great deal of initial effort and maintenance, especially in styles where the color(s) form an integral part of the style. In some cases, for example, mohawk-wearers who normally wear their hair up in a fan style dye the hair in even lines or stripes of color, either horizontal or vertical.

Varieties[edit]

Although a mohawk is most widely defined as a narrow, central strip of upright hair running from the forehead to the nape, with the sides of the head bald,[13][14] the term can be applied more loosely to various similar hairstyles, many of which have informal names.

Classic (1970s–1980s)[edit]

Mohawks or mohawk-like hairstyles can be cut in patterns deviating from the simple central strip. For example, a mohawk with multiple parallel strips of hair may be called a "bi-hawk" (for two strips), a "tri-hawk" (for three strips), etc. A hairstyle resembling a sideways mohawk, such as one that runs from ear to ear or temple to temple, is called a "crosshawk".
  • "Liberty spikes" are spikes of hair in the mohawk instead of a row. The spikes can be of a single color, or dyed various colors. Bright colors are common, but when this style is worn by members of the goth subculture, it may be dyed in darker tones. The term also applies to this style when it is worn over the entire scalp.
  • A "deathhawk" features voluminous teased or backcombed hair, and is common to the deathrock and goth subcultures. Small sections of hair left at the side of the head, just in front of the ears are known as "Deathlocks," "bat wings" or "devilocks", and are normally associated with the deathhawk style.
  • The "psychobilly mohawk" or "quiff" is the most common haircut for fans of psychobilly. It is in essence a pompadourwith the sides shaved, similar to the haircut British National Service recruits received during basic training in the 1950s. A similar style, known as a "Hitler Youth haircut," has recently become popular among indie kids who often add a side or central parting in imitation of post-World War II veterans returning to civilian life in the 1950s.
  • "frohawk" is occasionally seen on African American punks, ravers, and old-school hip-hop fans. Some include hair twists on the side, cornrows, or just pinning up the sides. This style, originally the traditional haircut for warriors of the African Mandinka tribe, was popularized by actor Mr. T.
  • Chelsea hawk is a mohawk with bangs, generally popular with females. Oi! skinheads, as depicted in the movies This is England and Combat Girl, keep a long fringe at the front but shave the back and sides. A longer version of the haircut dyed black is sometimes worn by emo girls.

Modern (post-1990)[edit]

  • dreaded mohawk is a "dreadhawk". This is often worn by members of the crust punkdubstep, and goth subcultures. For rivetheadscybergoths and ravers, artificial hair falls are added, usually in bright neon colors.
  • "lazy hawk" is a typical Mohawk, except left unstyled, resting on the wearer's head, and can be seen in The Marvel Comics character Daken (Wolverine's son), who is shown since his birth with a mohawk (long with the sides shaven).
  • A mohawk styled like a fan is a fanhawk. A variant of this is the "rayhawk," a short mohawk dyed bright blue; it is named due to the popularity of the style among Tampa Bay Rays players. The style has become popular among 'Rays fans.
  • A "warhawk" is a very short mohawk (0–3 inches). Examples include videogame characters Joseph Turok and John "Soap" McTavish, fictional taxi driver Travis Bickle, mixed-martial artist Chuck Liddell, and singer Ivan Moody and WWE Superstar The Undertaker since WrestleMania 28 has had this haircut.
  • A wide mohawk extending almost to the temples is referred to as a "shark fin". Shark fins are popular among the Britishchav and raver subcultures. The back is shaved into a V-shape and it is usually spiked and bleached blond. This is also known as a "V-cut mohawk". A similar haircut is worn by some emo and pop-punk fans. A mohawk that starts on theocciput and runs down into a rattail or mullet ponytail is a "rat-hawk".
  • "boghawk" or bog hawk is worn by a small subset of folk metal fans. The name comes from one of the oldest known mohawks, which was found on a bog body - the Clonycavan Man, who is believed to be a druid. Many folk metal fans honor the culture and ways of Proto-Indo-European religion. The hawk is usually wide and long and is styled in a messy fashion to mimic the look of tree sap.
  • Rather than the strip of longer hair in the center of the scalp, a "reverse mohawk", also known as a "nohawk" or "hawkmo", features a shaved strip from the forehead to the nape of the neck leaving hair on either side of the line.

Fauxhawk variants[edit]

  • fauxhawk or "fohawk" copies the style of a mohawk, but without shaving the sides of the head and not extending past the peak of the cranium. The fauxhawk is typically worn with a small but noticeable spike in the middle, though usually considerably shorter than many traditional mohawks. The style re-emerged in the early 2000s, with some of the popularly known wearers being Fran Healy (musician)David Beckham and Jónsi. The fauxhawk is known in the Hoxton andShoreditch districts of London as the "Hoxton fin".[15]
  • A fauxhawk where the hair down the center of the head is longer than the hair on the sides is a "euro-hawk". Sometimes the top of the hair is long enough to cover up the shorter sides when combed down. Some of the more popular sports figures and fashion models can be found wearing euro-hawks in various lengths, textures and colors. The mohawk has been a style mostly seen on punk rockers and the like, but fauxhawks and euro-hawks have transcended to all hair types. The ponyhawk or pony hawk is a type of euro-hawk created by a row of ponytails going down the middle of the head. This look was worn by contestant Sanjaya Malakar on an episode of the television series American Idol.[16]

  • "curly hawk" or "curl-hawk" is similar to the fauxhawk, this lesser known hawk is in traditional faux style but consists of long thin curls. Having been made famous by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen during the early years of Full House, this is most commonly sported by infants.
